Camelback Mountain

One of the things on my list to do during the winter break was to go on a hike. I couldn't talk my family into going with me. But, I did what any other determined girl would do, and found a friend to come along with me. Karen is always up for anything. She has lived in Arizona her whole life, and had never climbed Camelback Mountain. I was happy to have her come with me.

It was really fun. Really pretty, and really challenging. I think I was sore for the next week. Karen, not so much. Here are some pictures from our adventure. Oh, and I should mention that we went on New years day, along with half of Phoenix. The parking lot was full and we waited for 30 minutes for a parking spot. It was worth the wait. Such a fun hike.

This part is so steep that there is handrails to help you up...good thing, couldn't of done it without them.

Yay! We made it to the top. You could see all of Phoenix...it was so pretty!!

Such a pretty view. It's wierd to see another part of the country have such beautiful and warm weather while we are suffering in coldness. :)

Hoooray for you!
If I lived nearby, I'd be up for your hiking, too! Looks like fun, and such a great view!

Great job, Jane! That's such an accomplishment. Jim and the kids used to do Camelback often, but I never did. I did do Piestewa Peak once... ONCE!! I really admire people who hike these mountains, because you are right, they aren't easy! But what a reward when you get to the top! I'm also glad that you and Karen are such good friends and find these great things to do together...makes all the difference in the world to have a good girlfriend to do things with! Great photos...congrats! : )

Girl, you're amazing! It was good to see Tyler and Emily at the Porter Christmas party. They look great! We missed you but hope your holidays were great!

Hi, Jane! I hope you don't mind - I got the link to your blog from Carol's site. I've never climbed Camelback Mountain either, but your pictures make me want to! I've also always thought it would be fun to go out to Four Peaks and do a day hike. Congratulations on the accomplishment! Please tell Victoria I say hi!
